How can we turn art into a digital product that appeals to many people? How to wrap it in velvet in such a tasteful way that the value of the work keeps growing? These and other challenges are being tackled by a group of scientists, artists, and other professionals from the 0x0.art project.
“We are developing a software engine to generate unique digital artworks,” says Vidas Raudonis, professor at KTU’s Faculty of Electricity and Electronics, about the IT “baby” he is developing.
Professor combines electronics, automation, and computer science with AI. And lately, he is trying to tame art as well.
How to use digital tools to generate an attractive and unique artistic product? How do you measure the aesthetic satisfaction that such a painting will give a person, and how do you entrust that creation to artificial intelligence?
“The object of our work is the digital image. With the help of NFT, we want to share one unique work of art with many people. These new creations must remain as unique and not depreciate. To do this, we use artificial intelligence techniques that allow us to copy and replicate the real artist’s work in our unique way, but without losing the artist’s style”, says the scientist.
Thanks to the technology developed by Professor Raudonis and his team, if a person wants to buy a beautiful painting tailored to their needs, they can generate it from the text. How does it work? Let’s say you would like to congratulate your company’s CEO on his birthday. Sure, you could congratulate and give him something material and banal, but the chances are that he will not value being a wealthy person. Or the item will be unnecessary and uninteresting. So what is the option?
An original and personalized NFT can not only make your boss happy. Still, it can also be a good investment, as the value of a quality token can gradually increase significantly over time. Let’s say you know that your boss likes sailing, hiking, and mountain climbing. Oh, and I almost forgot — he is a hard worker because he is the first to get to the office and the last to leave. What does diligence represent? For example, the bee. The project will allow you to enter the words or terms you need into a database of images and get an attractive digital image that combines them. No other person in the world will have that!
For those who like to unwrap and physically touch their gifts, in addition to the digital NFT gift, it will also be possible to receive a printed and framed picture. So your boss’s NFT image will consist of a bee, mountains, and a yacht. The app will create a unique artistic painting from its database’s millions of pictures and photos. And this virtual painting will be in the style of a famous painter such as Vincent van Gogh! Or a less famous one, but one that you like!
A unique product, right?
What gives the work its uniqueness and value is that it is made up of a unique chain of blocks, which, like a digital certificate, confirms that it is a real and unique asset. If anyone tries to copy or counterfeit your NFT, they will not have the obligatory digital certification.
Professor Raudonis has been researching the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for years. As an experienced researcher, he actively contributes to the development and accelerated deployment of these technologies. When defining the fields of application of IoT, he singles out medicine, where the technology makes the work of doctors much more accessible. For example, it analyses images of internal organs or biochemical substances and detects severe diseases in the human body early. Only the eye of a highly experienced specialist can do this. Many areas are among the future directions of IoT development. For example, autonomous, driverless trucks will likely be transporting goods on our motorways shortly. And we will be able to forget about wallets and debit cards when we go to the supermarket, as financial payments will be made simply by scanning a person’s face or iris. Accounting, medical operations, legal proceedings — in many areas, artificial intelligence will become a dominant actor, under human supervision, but making informed and objective decisions on its own.
And what about the arts? Artists, not only real but also virtual ones, will become more and more prominent. Artificial intelligence brushstrokes wrapped in an NFT body will become more and more appreciated.
